How to deal with a MASSIVE break out!!

Gahh its one of those weeks! iโ€™ve been stressing, and of course the first place it shows is my face. I was about to get ready for work and thought i should film how i deal with my break outs.

I love the look of clean fresh skin, i do not like layers and layers of make-up..if i could get away with wearing no foundation that would be amazing but this is my way of achieving fresh looking skin MID break out ๐Ÿ™‚

Holiday Lips!

Hey y’all!

I found the perfect product for bright holiday lips! If youย (like me) are bad at keeping lipstick neat and tidy Lipstains are perfect for you. I love having bright lips, but when I am working, eating or socialising lipstick staying in place is the LAST thing I want to worry about.

The other day while I was taking my frequent (and quite frankly therapeutic) stroll down the makeup isle of Priceline I found these Lipstains by Savvy..they are only $8.99 and come in amazingly bright colours and they actually stay on for ages then fade away nicely and I love them! That’s pretty much it..here is a picture of me wearing the shade watermelon ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx

Happy Holidays!

Wake up looking awesome! (Well better at the very least).

Hey guys!

So I know we all want to wake up like Beyoncรฉ (flawless) but some people (a.k.a me) wake up looking like there has been a small tornado in their room, this is not helpful when I need to get ready quickly or want to look pretty waking up at a friends house etc.

So I decided to give some actual thought into if there was anything I could do to change the outcome of “tornado” mornings here is what I did and I found it made a massive difference ๐Ÿ™‚

– Ensure all makeup is removed from face so skin can breathe, you may think you will look better keeping makeup on at a significant others place but the reality is dry skin and panda eyes! Not to mention the break outs from clogging your pores for the whole night :/

– Brush hair, spray dry shampoo in the roots and put an oil such as Moroccan oil through your ends then put your hair in pigtail plaits, by doing this your roots will stay fresh you ends moisturised and hair knot free (not to mention the effortless wave you get when you take the plaits out ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

-Sleep on your back??? Yes this is a strange one but apparently sleeping on your back prevents sleep lines, puffiness and pimples caused by keeping your face pressed against a pillow all night.

– Just before you go to sleep put a thick layer of Lanolips 101 ointment on your lips, this will act as a lip treatment so you don’t wake up with chapped dry lips.

– Groom eyebrows the night before, if your eye brows are in great shape they can add a lot of definition to the eyes without having to wear makeup

– Brush and floss teeth really well (don’t forget to scrape your tongue!) and follow up with whitening treatment or if you wear plates make sure you wear them to ensure your teeth are nice and straight, keep water by your bedside and sip through the night to avoid bad breath

– Avoid nicotine, alcohol and caffeine four hours before bedtime..well preferably avoid these things all the time but I’m trying to be realistic here.

– Last but certainly not least get an early night! Beauty sleep Is REAL..lack of sleep can cause skin to sag and lose it’s lustre as well as blood vessels dilating which causes dark circles, so get eight hours sleep if you can!

Let me know if this makes a difference to y’all! I also want to hear your tricks to waking up fresh ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day xxx

How to get the best from your foundation!

Hey guys!

Now we have gone through this journey of finding your perfect foundation we need to ensure it’s applied in a way that will benefit you most!

There are many different ways of applying foundation the main ones being sponges, brushes and my personal favourite fingers. Fingers warm up the product and this gives a more natural look when it’s being applied, I also hate wasting product and I find that I go through foundation quicker because brushes and sponges absorb more. When it comes to my clients I use brushes because they are more hygienic than fingers. However I use my fingers for things such as concealer (just remember If you are going to use your fingers always have freshly washed hands and use hand sanitiser immediately before touching someone’s face!)

In this video I am going to take you through the most popular foundation tools and give you an easy intro on how to use them, I have written a description down below but there is more detail in the video and it helps to see the techniques ๐Ÿ™‚

Fingers-

– Put foundation on back of hand pat your fingers into foundation
– Dab foundation onto the face in areas you most need it (not blending)
– Use your fingers to massage this in almost like a moisturiser
– Feather out at edges, less is more I try and put only minimal to no foundation on places where I don’t need coverage.

Sponge –

If you are using a sponge like the popular Beauty Blender be sure it’s damp, this is the way it was designed to be used and will absorb to much product if it’s not.

– Dampen sponge (not so it’s dripping just so it’s nice and fat ๐Ÿ™‚ )
– Put foundation of back of hand
– Dip your sponge in foundation and stipple onto face, stipple is a makeup term that basically means bouncing softly onto the face (definitely see video for this one)

The flat foundation brush-

– Put foundation on back of hand
– Dip in foundation (do not over load the brush)
– Brush onto face starting at the centre of the face
– Feather it out at the hair line to avoid streaks
– Blend in with fingers or pat over with brush (technique in video)

Kabuki Brushes –

If applying mineral powder foundation you want to use a kabuki brush. Kabuki brushes are more dense than normal powder brushes therefore they pick up more product so when applied it’s gives better coverage

Buffing brushes/fibre optic brushes –

If you have been doing these techniques with these tools and are not happy with the result and the makeup is still sitting on your skin you can use brushes like these ones to buff over the foundation once applied.

Thanks for reading/watching! I hope you guys enjoyed the foundation series, please be sure to subscribe to my youtube channel ” Katy Clucas ” for more videos ๐Ÿ™‚

Refresh in the new year!

It’s a new year and I found myself sifting through my personal make-up kit thinking 1. I never use half of this stuff, 2. It all needs cleaning, 3. I want all new make-up…I had to talk myself out of buying new makeup (I own a ton!) but I did buy a new eye palette I must admit.

I’m not sure how you organise your make-up but I have one draw that holds everything and one smaller sectioned bag that is my “everyday case”.

Having a smaller case with your basics makes your routine more efficient instead of spending forever trying to find things.

I organised, cleaned and replaced now it feels sparkly and new. Here’s how!

1. Take everything out of your case and set this aside.

2. Wash your case with soap and water, providing it is the sort that can be washed like this if not then use baby wipes.

3. Wash any brushes that were in your case (see my tools maintenance blog to learn how). Sharpen any pencils such as lip, eye, brow.

4. Sort through all the makeup you removed and take out anything you haven’t used in weeks (you can always put it back, but you will probably forget about it) this step is some what therapeutic I must say :).

5. Once you have chosen the makeup you definitely use. Clean the exteriors of the products with baby wipes so they look shiny and new again.

6. Finally once your kit and brushes are dry put everything back in, have a spot for everything that way it’s easy to find and you can have an extra two minutes sleep in the morning hehe ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have pictured my personal kit below (don’t judge me!) my personal makeup is not as luxurious as the makeup in my professional kit, I often experiment with different brands on myself before buying them for my professional kit..any questions on what products are feel free to ask xxx
