Holiday Lips!

Hey y’all!

I found the perfect product for bright holiday lips! If you (like me) are bad at keeping lipstick neat and tidy Lipstains are perfect for you. I love having bright lips, but when I am working, eating or socialising lipstick staying in place is the LAST thing I want to worry about.

The other day while I was taking my frequent (and quite frankly therapeutic) stroll down the makeup isle of Priceline I found these Lipstains by Savvy..they are only $8.99 and come in amazingly bright colours and they actually stay on for ages then fade away nicely and I love them! That’s pretty much it..here is a picture of me wearing the shade watermelon 🙂 xxx

Happy Holidays!

How to get the best from your foundation!

Hey guys!

Now we have gone through this journey of finding your perfect foundation we need to ensure it’s applied in a way that will benefit you most!

There are many different ways of applying foundation the main ones being sponges, brushes and my personal favourite fingers. Fingers warm up the product and this gives a more natural look when it’s being applied, I also hate wasting product and I find that I go through foundation quicker because brushes and sponges absorb more. When it comes to my clients I use brushes because they are more hygienic than fingers. However I use my fingers for things such as concealer (just remember If you are going to use your fingers always have freshly washed hands and use hand sanitiser immediately before touching someone’s face!)

In this video I am going to take you through the most popular foundation tools and give you an easy intro on how to use them, I have written a description down below but there is more detail in the video and it helps to see the techniques 🙂

Fingers-

– Put foundation on back of hand pat your fingers into foundation
– Dab foundation onto the face in areas you most need it (not blending)
– Use your fingers to massage this in almost like a moisturiser
– Feather out at edges, less is more I try and put only minimal to no foundation on places where I don’t need coverage.

Sponge –

If you are using a sponge like the popular Beauty Blender be sure it’s damp, this is the way it was designed to be used and will absorb to much product if it’s not.

– Dampen sponge (not so it’s dripping just so it’s nice and fat 🙂 )
– Put foundation of back of hand
– Dip your sponge in foundation and stipple onto face, stipple is a makeup term that basically means bouncing softly onto the face (definitely see video for this one)

The flat foundation brush-

– Put foundation on back of hand
– Dip in foundation (do not over load the brush)
– Brush onto face starting at the centre of the face
– Feather it out at the hair line to avoid streaks
– Blend in with fingers or pat over with brush (technique in video)

Kabuki Brushes –

If applying mineral powder foundation you want to use a kabuki brush. Kabuki brushes are more dense than normal powder brushes therefore they pick up more product so when applied it’s gives better coverage

Buffing brushes/fibre optic brushes –

If you have been doing these techniques with these tools and are not happy with the result and the makeup is still sitting on your skin you can use brushes like these ones to buff over the foundation once applied.

Find your perfect foundation colour with this easy test!

Hey Guys!

If you have seen my last few post we found determined your skin type, then what foundations best suit that skin type and now we are finally up to choosing your foundation colour.

Choosing a colour is never easy so as always i try to make it as simple as possible for y’all. In this quick video i teach you a simple test to try on shades that you are either unsure of or that you have mixed for yourself.

I would recommend having two foundations, one in a slightly lighter shade and one in a slightly darker shade then mix to find YOUR perfect colour. Its also a good idea to test your mixing seasonally as you may get darker in summer (you’re lucky! i just go red 😦 )

Its also very important to stick to yellow undertones in your foundations rather than red, there are a few exceptions to this rule like very dark nigerian skin may have blue undertones and might need warm oranges, red and coppers to warm it up. Other than this exception i would steer clear of red undertones, i show you how to identify red undertones in this video as well.

Please let me know what you think and if you could like, subscribe and comment on my youtube channel i would realllllly appreciate it.

Thanks for reading/watching stay tuned as my next blog will be “Perfect Foundation Application”

Bye Guys! xxx

Easy Eyeshadow Trick!

Hi Guys!

This eyeshadow trick will have you looking like you can blend eyeshadow like a pro!

I used only one palette and three brushes to complete this eyeshadow look, i used the MAC brushes 239, 217, 219 and the naked 2 palette. If you can’t get your hands on the palette make sure you watch this tutorial because i suggest a great alternative.

Enjoy!

The magic wand of makeup (it literally takes away wrinkles).

A common question I am asked by clients is “can you get rid of my wrinkles??) closely followed by a chuckle then a shocked face when I reply with an enthusiastic “yes!”.

Eyesentials under eye enhancer is a product that literally swipes away wrinkles like magic..I must admit whilst watching the ads for eyesentials on t.v I was a bit skeptical, but my god was I curious. Coincidentally I ended up doing makeup for two of their ads and it work before my eyes. I had to have it! ( link to view one of the ads below)

They were kind enough to send me a box and I have not stopped using it ever since. This product was invented in the 1950’s by a top Hollywood make-up artist to give screen sirens such as Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn a youthful look.

It’s a cosmetic so it’s last for the day (not forever unfortunately) I like to think of it like when Cinderella has her beautiful dress and coach till midnight, then she goes back to normal 🙂
It gives an amazing youthful smoothness to the under eyes. My clients look fresh and I’ve had a lot of compliments on their looks especially when it’s used for t.v.

I have tested the effects on my mum and photographed them especially for you guys so you can see the results (picture below).

Celebrity fans include:

Sonia Kruger
David Wenham (who loved Eyesential for his flash back scenes in the hit series Killing Time)
Underbelly and City Homicide use it for their actors
Caroline O’Connor
Holly Valance
Gina Riley (for Kath and Kim)
Neighbour’s stars and a whole range of news readers and morning show presenters loving Eyesential, and that’s just to name a few!
